In a bid to entice new partners and better its relationship with existing ones, Extreme Networks on Thursday announced enhancements to its North American Channel Partner Program, set to take effect April 1.

Christopher Rajiah, director of North American Channels for Santa Clara, Calif.-based Extreme, said chief among the program updates is the addition of a new top tier level, the Diamond Elite partner level, which will offer heightened rewards and incentives to resellers who demonstrate commitment and deliver volume results. Diamond Elite partners, Rajiah said, will earn more incentives than they would at the Platinum, Gold or Silver levels.

The Diamond tier will include benefits such as market development funds, loyalty rebates and rewards for lead generation. Diamond partners will be required to hold sales and post-sales certifications and will be required to continue education on a quarterly basis.

BT is leading a consortium it hopes will drive collaborative research between the UK and India, with a strong focus on new fixed and wireless networking technologies.

BT will be joined in the consortium by IT consultancy Intergence Systems, plus 10 UK universities: Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Lancaster, Queen Mary, Southampton, St Andrews, Surrey, University College London and Ulster.

McCain edges Romney to win Florida

It's doubtful then that Giuliani would participate in the GOP debate on Wednesday at the Reagan Library. The forum could be their final debate, with chances that the Super Tuesday contest will determine a nominee.

McCain's win, and an endorsement from Giuliani, would make him the front runner among California's moderate Republicans. McCain also is the likely heir to much of Giuliani's support in the entertainment industry, which could help give him a needed infusion of campaign money.

Moreover, McCain already has extensive ties to the business, having long served on the Senate Commerce Committee.

Sloan said that he actually sought out McCain in the summer of 2006 and, after meeting at the Beverly Hilton, agreed to help out his presidential bid. He hosted a fund-raiser for McCain in Janurary, 2007, where he told those gathered that he thought that the Arizona senator was "the most principled political leader of our generation."

Sloan predicted that McCain could hold appeal to Hollywood independents or even Democrats.
