For people looking for ways to stay fit, one of the easiest and most beneficial methods is walking. Lisa Schmidtfrerick of Steps to a Healthier New York recommends a number of areas in Jamestown suitable for the novice walker. The Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena has an indoor track open for the public, and Ms. Schmidtfrerick also said many times public school districts have hall-walking programs, which are a great low-cost alternative.
Ms. DeAngelo said the best way to avoid burnout is to make a long-term goal but take smaller steps to obtain that goal.
When you have everyday things coming into play, exercise gets pushed aside, Ms. DeAngelo said. So its good to have a goal, but accomplish it in shorter steps and smaller intervals.
Experts suggest one easy change is to purchase a pedometer.

A Question for Kofi
The northern part of Darfur is extremely arid, with little shelter from the harsh African sun and virtually no water. Khadiya and the other villagers had little choice but to move on in search of a source. After several days of walking, the group reached the outskirts of the village of Omburu. There were wells outside of the town which they could reach at night undetected. Traditionally, it is the womens job to get the water, and as the eldest member of the group, Khadiya was often in charge of these expeditions. I asked her what they had found to eat out there. Id never heard of what she described. Its like a seed on the low bushes, she tells me. You have to soak it and boil it for two days before people can eat it. Its what we feed the goats. This is what we were: goats. The group huddled together for months.

For the record, everyone in the world seems to be saying that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is not going to be the candidate for prime minister from his late mother Benazir Bhutto's Pakistan Peoples Party. The 19-year-old did just inherit the party chairmanship, even if his dad is going to be making most of the decisions while Bilawal finishes his studies at Oxford. Whatever role he's going to play, the guy just got handed an awfully big title. Anyone out there 19 and ready to lay out a plan for Pakistan? OK, anyone of any age? Hit the comments, please. Shortly after acquiring an existing airbag initiator facility in Tremonton, Utah, in 2001, automotive supplier Autoliv launched a kaizen suggestion program designed to encourage continuous improvement ideas from its employees. Nothing new about that -- any company involved in a lean initiative will have some sort of kaizen program. At the Tremonton facility (known locally as ITO, for Initiator Tremonton Operations), however, Autoliv is practicing what might best be described as "extreme kaizen." In 2002, 227 suggestions were submitted; through November 2007, nearly 15,000 suggestions had been submitted.
